The New Mary's Room

February 14, 2002, marked the ribbon cutting for the new and improved “Mary’s Room.” It has been moved and rebuilt at the opposite end of the American Cancer Society building. Channels 2, 4,7 and Adelphia cable were on hand to televise the ribbon cutting.

The new room is twice as big as the old one and is beautifully decorated in shades of purples and mauves. Large mirrors accent one side of the room with plenty of seating for trying on and experimenting with the different types of head apparel. The other side of the room displays an expanse of new and stylish wigs. On one wall there is a beautiful large framed picture of Mary F. Marvin, which the room was named after.

“Mary’s Room” is run by the “Reach to Recovery” volunteers, who are a major asset to the functioning of the room. All in all, it is a great accomplishment and we (The Mother’s Day Breast Cancer Canal Walk Committee) are proud to be the major contributor.
